Halt all racist tours (HART), was set up in 1969 and was a protest group in New Zealand against All Blacks rugby union tours with South Africa. This is because prior to 1970, South Africa excluded any mixed raced teams from tours in their country. John Minto, Trevor Richards and Tom Newnham were the founders. They initially formed it to protest against the 1970 tour, however South Africa agreed to allowed a mixed race team. In 1980 HART combined with the National Anti-Apartheid Council and were called HART: NAM lead by John Minto. Members in this organisation were dedicated to stopping the tour with their main objective being equality for all people regardless of their skin colour. HART soon concluded their organisation because of the abolishment of apartheid by the South African government.
